Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa launches ‘prison bazaar’
A ‘prison bazaar’ had been launched by the Tamil Nadu government where products made by jail inmates like bakery products would be sold. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa launched the initiative, named ‘Freedom,’ at the Central Prison at suburban Puzhal through video conferencing.
She had earlier announced setting up prison bazaars at an investment of Rs. 10 lakhs. These would sell clothes, bakery products, footwear, soaps and masala products among others, as per a government release. This is the first of the prison bazaars.
