NUT SQUARE

Recipe

Ingredients Percent Actual wt. in g.
Shortening   60 600
Sugar 50 500
Salt 1 10
Egg 18 180
Vanilla 1 10
Flour 100 1000
Baking Powder 0.5 5
Peanuts (roasted and grated fine) 20 200

Procedure

1. Sift flour and baking powder and mix with grated peanuts.

2. Cream fat and sugar. 

3. Whisk egg with vanilla and add to the creamed mixture. 

4. Add flour and mix to a soft and pliable dough.

5. Form the dough pieces into bar like shape of square cross section. 

6. Chill until hard enough to cut. 

7. Cut into thin slices and place onto greased baking sheet.

8. Brush with milk or egg wash. Bake at 375 deg. F.  

Note:- 

If the biscuits break while cutting, little extra mixing. Can be given or in subsequent batch peanut content can be reduced and also should be made into a very fine powder. Same remedial measures can be adopted if the cookies are too fragile after baking.
